An episode you've watched more than 5 times
This is phrased like there's only going to be one. Why would there only be one? I'm doing five, but there's definitely more than five- these are just episodes I won't get the chance to discuss anywhere else, and want to talk about.
1) Stargate: SG-1, "200." This is such a wonderful, funny episode wherein Stargate satirizes other SF shows, like Star Trek and Farscape. It's really sort of meta, and yet it manages to be a solid episode within the canon, too. I love it.
2) Angel, "The Girl in Question." I've probably watched "Smile Time" more than five times too, but I want to highlight "The Girl in Question." It's such a beautifully handled episode- half screwball comedy in the form of Angel and Spike's shenanigans in Rome, and half tragedy in the form of Fred's parents' visit. I love Illyria for many reasons- not the least of which being the chance it gave Amy Acker to stretch her acting muscles (and look at her now, on Person of Interest, playing the villain!). Here, where she plays Illyria pretending to be Fred, she takes it to a whole new level. I also love the side of Wes Illyria brought out, and this episode is a wonderful case in point- he hates her, and yet he's bizarrely fond of her, he's tired and bitter and he wishes he'd never have to see her again- and yet she's singled him out to be her mentor, and he's oddly protective of her both because she's like a child under his care, and because she's also all he has left of the woman he loves. It's a fascinating and gorgeously layered dynamic.
3) Star Trek: Voyager, "Endgame." There are so many great episodes of Voyager and I'll try to find a place to talk about them, because this one- the series finale- isn't really a favorite. It's a solid finale, and I like it- but the reason I've watched it so many times isn't because I loved it so much. "Endgame" just happens to be one of the only episodes of Voyager that was taped in my household when it aired and never taped over, so when I had a hankering for Voyager, this was the ep to watch for many years.
4) Band of Brothers, "Why We Fight." Also not entirely by choice, though I do think "Why We Fight" is one of the best episodes of Band of Brothers- though I maybe liked "The Last Patrol" a little bit more. This ep was shown in a European History class I was in once while we were studying the holocaust, and it is indeed a wonderfully written and acted piece of work. I never forgot the moment when they found the concentration camp and just didn't understand what it was- and the confusion and growing horror on the faces of the soldiers who could speak German and were trying to translate was very painful, and yet so important to watch- so I rewatched the episode a few years later. I've seen Band of Brothers in its entirety a quite few times since then, so I'm fairly sure that makes more than five.
5) Supernatural, "The Mystery Spot." Though I'm not actually a huge fan of Groundhog Day, I love fanfics and TV episodes that riff on the concept. I love "Window of Opportunity" on Stargate: SG-1 as well, but I thought "The Mystery Spot" took it to a whole new level. I love the humor of it- how it's horrible and vaguely traumatizing and yet hilarious at the same time. Sort of like hysteria is setting in. Even though I haven't seen a new SPN episode in years, I still rewatch this one from time to time. I love that Asia song, and the fact that in interviews and at conventions everyone had to ask Jensen Ackles what his favorite death was- and I love that his is the same as mine: the piano.
And, a bonus- "Major Star" from Blackadder Goes Forth. If you haven't seen Blackadder, you really need to. Any episode from any season will do, but "Major Star" is my favorite. If I haven't seen it more than five times, I will eventually. It's the one where Blackadder is trying to organize a variety show, with George (Hugh Laurie) dressed in drag. Unfortunately, their boss, General Melchett (Stephan Fry) buys that that Georgina is a lady, and demands a date. And then many dates. I love it. A lot.
