Yep, fandom is great when you have loads of people on the same page as you, but when it gets toxic, it's certainly not much found. I found the level of criticism in Musketeers fandom this past season somewhat dispiriting and there does seem to be a growing tendency for fans to want the show to write their fanfic for them, which can lead to very unrealistic expectations of the show. A lot of things people wanted to see in Musketeers would have made fabulous fanfic, but wouldn't have worked in the context of a TV programme.
It's up to us to fill in the gaps! That's what fanfic is for.
