Challenge #3

Write a love letter to fandom. It might be to fandom in general, to a particular fandom, favourite character, anything at all.

Dear Fandom,

Ever since I was a homesick fourteen year old with access to fast internet for the first time, you've been my constant companion. Hubs may come and go, specific fandoms too, but the idea of finding a book or a show or a movie, finding something to love and wanting to talk and talk, and read and read, and write and write, is always there.

Thank you for the over 800k words I've written and shared over the years. Thank you for the friends I've made, the skills I've learned, and the hours I've spent with something wonderful to think about instead of what was scary or sad in my life just then. Thank you for the distraction. Thank you for the joy.

Here's to all the loves I've found with you, and all the loves I've yet to find!

Love,
potentiality_26

(Writing this put me in mind of a post I made for the challenge last year about my fannish origin story. Check it out if you're interested!)

comments

I'm not really sure what to post about, so I thought I'd just give a list of some fandoms I got into (or back into) over the last year or so. Please poke me and ask for a general review or what I'm shipping or what fics I'm thinking of writing in any of them.

Black Adam
Critical Role
Good Omens
House M.D. (look, Hulu had it and I was feeling nostalgic. I swear some of this show might be written on my DNA I remember it so well)
The Sandman
Shadow and Bone
Shetland
Star Trek (always; loving Strange New Worlds)
Ted Lasso
The Witcher

comments

I wouldn't sign up for a fandom exchange right now for anything- I'm far too scatterbrained at the moment- but the Little Black Dress exchange is such a fantastic idea.

More often than not instead of having an OTP I'll ship one character with almost anyone, so I've always been into little black dress-style shipping. It's nice to see it get some love.

comments
