As of right now

I'm caught up on all my new shows!  And I even saw The Day of the Doctor!  It is a momentous occasion (for me) and we'll see if I can maintain this (I probably can't).  I haven't seen tonight's Almost Human, but that doesn't constitute a backlog, so there.

As I believe I mentioned, I was a little unsure of this show at first, but the last three episodes have been very good.  They're more character-centric and I'm starting to feel more bonded to these people, which is what makes a show fun to watch.  Ward may even grow on me (though that may spring chiefly from The Hub and the general 'and lo, there was slash' experience I had with it.  I'm not exactly shipping it, but a little potential goes a long way).

Boy, am I loving this show!  But I would like answers on the dudes with cameras in Lizzie's house- like, yesterday.  Originally, I assumed they were somehow tied to the Tom's-a-spy thing, but it turns out they're separate issues.  I sort of like Tom, but largely because he reminds me of Rory Williams and I miss Rory Williams a whole heck of a lot,  On the other hand, the way Red turned that monologue to Tom about Lizzie's father watching over her into one big threat was pretty awesome.  I also loved Red and Lizzie's scene with the plastic surgeon.  I know the tension between them is an important part of the show dynamic, but it was so great to them work as a team.

I liked it a lot, generally.  I tend to try not to play favorites (though I'm pretty sure Eight and Eleven are the ones if I have to pick) and think of him as just the doctor, whichever incarnation he is.  That said, I hadn't realized how much I missed Ten until he was there.  John Hurt was great, too- though for my emotional well-being I wish Moffat hadn't felt the need to stick a random extra doctor between Eight and Nine.  Because Nine isn't really Nine at all, is he?  I mean, I assume the fandom isn't going to shift everybody after Eight's name over this, but it still bugs me, and that brings me to my big question:

Does anybody know if we have well and truly dispensed with the thirteen regenerations thing?  Obviously the master had several after his supposed thirteenth, and I gather the doctor said he could regenerate an infinite amount of times on the Sarah Jane Adventures (I got that information secondhand so about it)- but is the concept really gone, or are we coming on our last doctor?  Because that would be depressing as all get out.

I'm still enjoying it, and I don't have a great deal to say other than that- though it is an improvement to have Irving finally on the same page as Ichabod and Abbie.  I'm glad that he has a chance to be badass himself now.  Also, I'm sad about the masons.  I haven't seen James Frain as a good guy in... well, ever, and I liked the idea that he might be a recurring character. I hope we maybe get to see John Noble again.  I know there's no reason for the sin eater to come back, I just miss seeing him all regular-like.

Non-spoilery question for those more active in Doctor Who than me: is there an LJ Comm for Doctor Who/other fandom crossovers- maybe specifically with a character from said other fandom as a companion?  It seems like there should be (and if there isn't there should be) and I may be, possibly- reluctantly- writing a fic.

I'm sure I'll find somewhere to post when/if I finish regardless; I'm just curious.

This was the best The blacklist episode yet, too bad about the cliffhanger! Intense all the way through; I loved it. Red is just such an interesting character and I like seeing small layers of back history being revealed.

And I loved the haunted house plot in Sleepy Hollow. I didn’t expect Ichabod and Katharina to have a child, but it’s neat that the history of Mills and Ichabod goes back so far. I wasn’t shipping before but I could go for Jenny and Irving. They were cute together. I hope we get to see more of his daughter as well.

Yep, I was waiting for the Blacklist to hit me with a cliffie, and sure enough...

One of the things I love most about Sleepy Hollow is the unashamed way they just throw whatever into the pot and make it work. This latest has been a great extension of that.

Jenny and Irving are pretty cute.
