the kind of militant "watch this show or it will be your fault it failed" attitude I've seen over the internet about it is making it even harder to watch, frankly.

I've mostly seen those kinds of posts on Tumblr, for which I can understand your feelings on the matter. Tumblr can be a rather hivemind place when it comes to these kinds of things, and I tend to ignore it. I'm all for wanting to save a show from cancellation, especially something new, but some people can go overboard with campaigning and rallying to the point of forcing things down people's throats on it, especially with the "you're either with us or against us" kind of attitude. That, more often than not, tends to push people away. I've already seen many posts refuting and arguing on those kinds of stances, particularly on the issue about "taking one for the team" re: woman-fronted shows.

Basically: the whole thing is a mess and I'm staying far away from it.

I, for one, have been enjoying the show mostly because I love watching Haley Atwell as Peggy Carter kicking ass, and that's it.
