Ugh

So I was one of those people whose email provider decided to summarily block all emails from LJ this week.  I guess the problem has been at least semi-fixed since I can leave and reply to comments again now, but I'm still kind of pissed off about it.

Like why did Microsoft think it was such an A+ idea to just start deleting messages from a website without taking two seconds to check if it was a site their user base might want to still get messages from?  And it would have been one thing if it had changed the settings so the messages went straight to the junk mail folder (at least then we would have had some say in whether we even saw the messages or not) but no.  They just never arrived.

*growls*

Anyway, I wanted to get another email address that I would have to check regularly like I wanted a hole in the head, so I just kept hoping LJ would get it fixed, and lo they did something right.  The whole situation still aggratvates me, though.

Fuckin' Microsoft...I'm another one who was affected by this. I've had the same email address for over ten years and I too did not want another one. Finally, while wanting to kick Microsoft in the head, I got that other email address so I could get my LJ back.

Well, right now I'm still not getting messages from LJ to my email, but LJ is allowing me to comment again even without my address validated (which is annoying but better than how it was).

Hopefully the problem will get genuinely fixed at some point, but yeah, fucking Microsoft.

...and this experience really drove home that being cut off from my LJ was akin to being cut off from life support. I'm not active across many social media platforms. LJ is my home-base.

I'm not as active on LJ as I could be, but I still definitely missed it.

But yeah, the whole thing is so frustrating.
