Snowflake Challenge #4

IceBreaker Challenge! Tell us about yourself. Post your answer to today’s challenge in your own space and leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.

This is a tough one since I don't often talk about personal stuff on here, so I did as the post suggested and used this random question generator to make a set.

Did you ever have a huge rival? Was the rivalry friendly or fierce?
Once I was in a play where my character was the antagonist and solidly 60% of the play was just the protagonist and me in shouting matches. (I was Juror #3 in 12 Angry Men, if you know it).  I remember while the show was running people would always ask us -- or at least me -- if we really hated each other, and I would always be amazed by it. No, I loved him I just... took all of my accumulated stress and anger from the day and hurled it at him every rehearsal and performance for a quarter of a year.

What type of exercise do you like most?
Exercise? Like? Uh-uh. I do try to dance to a song at least once a day, which makes exercise as close to fun as it can get for me.

What do you think is the most useful skill to know?

Acting, maybe? I definitely use it in social situations as well as my work. You know how some people say they have a customer service persona? Well, I have a whole interacting with people I don't know well persona and it's as meticulous as any part I've ever played.

Do you have any unusual fears?
I was fairly young the first time I saw Silence of Lambs, and the thing that really got me wasn't the serial killers or anything, it was the dude who swallows his own tongue. To this day I periodically get the idea that it's going to happen to me when I'm at the dentist and have to hold my mouth open with my head leaned back (which is, you know, what being at the dentist is all about).

Is time currently passing quickly or slowly for you?
Hahahaha. Time is passing like a fucking flash.

What is your current go-to song to dance to when nobody is around?
Something in the Orange by Zach Ryan. Might seem like an odd choice by the rhythm is really excellent. Makes me wish I was back in choreography class.

What mode of transportation have you never tried?

Helicopters? I've been in cars, buses, trains, boats, airplanes, stagecoaches, cable cars, trams. I've ridden horses and camels and bikes.  Oooh, I've never been on a motorcycle and I have had opportunities. But no. Just no.

Would you feel comfortable showing me the photos on your phone?
Sure. All the pictures on my phone are of my cats, plus a couple of snow. (My PC is different story...)

What small stuff do you sweat even though you know you shouldn't?

As someone with OCD, this isn't question I can answer easily. Most of the stuff that gets to me is small stuff, the trick is convincing my brain of that.

Which of your past teachers would you like to sit down with and talk to today?
Lots of them, really, but maybe most of all my high school European History teacher. He also taught Calculus and German, which I think probably tells you everything you need to know about him. I just learned so much from him, not just about the subject but also how to study. I'd love to thank him for that.

What's the story behind your greatest treasure?

I have this cookbook from the sixties that was my grandmother's. Like all cookbooks from the sixties it's full of gelatin recipes that are absolutely dire, but in every one of the blank pages and empty spots my grandmother had handwritten her own home recipes, and those are wonderful.

How do you best like your ice-cream?
Kinda melty. I hate biting into cold things, so I prefer my ice cream soft.

Do you consider yourself an introvert or an extrovert?
Introvert all the way.

If you could change one thing about your family, what would it be?

I'd like to have a closer relationship with my cousins. All of them are either a lot older than me or a lot younger than me, so there's always been a disconnect and awkwardness that I wish wasn't there.

What's the most amount of money you've ever found? What was the situation?
One time when I was working in a supermarket I found like five dollars in coins under a shelf. I had no idea what to do with it and neither did anyone I asked, so I ended up distributing it among those little coin trays at the tills.

What is your best shower thought?
My shower thoughts are all either story ideas or arguments that I win, and neither of them are that great. Sometimes I'll come up with a whole passage of a story, which is useful as long as I manage to write it down before I forget it.

That was fun, actually!

speaking as a fellow actor, i don't think most people who haven't done it realize just how different a person can be from the character they're playing. and that's half the fun!!

also i'm glad to hear i'm not the only one who has fake arguments in the shower 😂

i too love the story about your grandma's cookbook. i inherited (by which i mean i stole from my parents' house) (they were moving and getting rid of stuff so it wasn't exactly stealing) a cookbook of my grandmother's but more importantly i got some of her handwritten recipes on file cards and notepaper, which is fantastic except her handwriting is really hard to read. >.< i hope your grandmother's notes are more legible. it's so cool to have that connection tho.

Super neat questions and answers! Especially loved what you wrote about your grandma's cookbook ❤️ (and now I'm wondering if me being more of an extrovert in any way is related to me also liking to chew very cold ice cream 😆)
