Really?

Is anyone watching Lucifer?  I'm not, and I know almost nothing about it, but I recently saw the summary for an episode and apparently Lucifer- being the actual devil in LA for some reason- was going to investigate a murder???  Like I don't know if it's properly a murder mystery TV show, but if it is these programs have officially become joke versions of themselves.

It's as if someone said, "I'm so tired of networks churning out one mystery show with a 'quirky' new investigator after another.  It's like it never ends.  Before you know it they'll have Satan solving crimes."

And then some TV exec said, "That's actually not a bad idea."

I haven't watched the show, mostly because the description didn't sound that interesting to me. However, I have seen gifs on Tumblr and apparently Lucifer doesn't really know how to deal with children. One of the characters has a young daughter, who goes up to hug him and he just is like, "....um, what is this small human?" idk much else about the show itself, but I think that's hilariously adorable.

Heh, that does sound kind of cute.

I don't feel able to make judgements about the quality of the show, obviously, and for all I know it's quite good. I just don't think they could possibly have come up with an idea that was more a caricature of the endless stream of procedural shows than this one if they were trying.

I haven't seen it (though I a few of my friends told me I definitely should), but I pretty much agree with your assessment. Execs have become so afraid of new things and pushing boundaries and hiring...you know...WRITERS - that this is exactly the kind of thing that happens...meh.

*HUGS*

Yeah, true. They were scraping the bottom of the barrel with these a long time ago. Even when the shows themselves look good, it's hard not to roll your eyes at the whole notion.
