The new message is "We can't keep waiting for a response from you" like somehow I'm the pill.

Has anyone actually tried deleting a photobucket account? Because if it gives you the opportunity to save those images at some point, it might actually be worth the effort, but as far as I can tell they're already gone unless you pay the ransom account fee, so what is the point of going through this multistep deletion process for their benefit?

My last calendar is still in September, but I have a new one for 2025 and I will persevere!

I did the thing where I let my email checking lapse for a month or two and ended up with a wall of unread messages.

20 - count them, 20 - are from Photobucket.

*eyeroll*

They really think I'm going to pay them, don't they?

Photobucket

So, when I was making icons regularly I used to have them hosted on photobucket, right?

Well, it must be several years ago now that photobucket decided it wasn't enough to just stick annoying watermarks on images from their free accounts, no, everyone had to have a paying account. And everyone was going to lose all their stuff if they didn't pay for an account. And I thought that was sad, but whatever, you know?

So now (again, I think years later), photobucket is sending me an email every couple of weeks asking me if I want my photos, and it's like... from the moment you told me that I had to pay you or lose them, those photos have been dead to me. And I guess I'd like them back, but not enough to dig up my password and go to your ad-riddled site to see whether or not you still expect me to pay for the privilege.

Anyway, I'm salty. Possibly my anger is rooted in other things.

So, you know the trick where you keep an intro or masterlist post at the top of your page by posting it and then changing the date to sometime far(-ish) into the future?  Mine was 2020 and we're beyond it now.  Here be dragons.

I'll fix it soon, but it just seems too weirdly symbolic not to leave for a while.

I don't post much about tumblr on here since I know not everyone uses it, but I really have to comment on something.  You like and reblog stuff you find interesting, and people (usually your followers) reblog stuff from you, right?

Well every once in a while you'll open up your dashboard and someone will have just gone to town, reblogging or liking a huge amount of stuff.  Dozens of posts.  And it's just like, "I'm glad you appreciated my content, I guess?"

I finished updating/revamping my masterlist, so I have a lovely sense of accomplishment.  It's here if you want to check it out.  There are quite a few Kingsman fics and Musketeers icons linked on there that I never properly posted to this journal.  I've promised myself I'll start remembering to post that stuff here like I used to.

I'm also planning on maybe doing a list of my fandoms and ships so I'll be able to link to it for memes and stuff.  Stand by for that at some point.

I'm going to be away for about a week, and when I get back I'm totally going to finally fix up my masterlist and do all the things I keep saying I'm going to do.  I think.

Anyway, I'll talk to you all when I get back!

Really?

Is anyone watching Lucifer?  I'm not, and I know almost nothing about it, but I recently saw the summary for an episode and apparently Lucifer- being the actual devil in LA for some reason- was going to investigate a murder???  Like I don't know if it's properly a murder mystery TV show, but if it is these programs have officially become joke versions of themselves.

It's as if someone said, "I'm so tired of networks churning out one mystery show with a 'quirky' new investigator after another.  It's like it never ends.  Before you know it they'll have Satan solving crimes."

And then some TV exec said, "That's actually not a bad idea."

To everyone on my flist who also makes icons (especially if you're just starting out like I am):

Are you ever making a set and you have maybe three or four, and then you make another that just raises the bar and suddenly you're thinking, "well now the previous ones look like crap"?

*sigh*

This month I really am going to get my shit together.  May was just... ugh.

I still have some saved up questions to do posts about, and I'm thinking of doing the kudos meme that I've seen going around my flist, so something will definitely happen this week.

Today I was looking through the bookmarks on one of my more popular fics, and it was tagged with "soulmates, but a classy take on it."  For some reason that really cracked me up.  I didn't know soulmate fics had become inherently unclassy, and sure the whole point of that fic was to do it differently than the usual trope, but the term choice amused the heck out of me.

Welp

It looks like I'm going to be without internet access for the next week (give or take).

Just letting everyone know that I'm not dead, and won't be unless the internet withdrawl kills me- in which case, live long and prosper, everyone.

There seems to be this thing that TV shows do where there is an antagonist (or a good guy who has gotten really annoying and antagonistic lately) who just drives me crazy, and I'm thinking to myself, "I will be overjoyed when he dies.  Overjoyed."  And then, for about an episode, he gets awesome, and I remember why I loved him once or come to love him even though I never did.  And he dies the next episode.  Boom.

This has become so common that I can literally predict when someone will die by this pattern.  Step One: I loathe him.  Step Two: I kind of like him suddenly/again.  Step Three: Dead.

Is it that they planned to kill this character but decided it wasn't worth doing unless it was painful?

What's this about?  It's actually really common.  I'd cite examples, or the program I'm watching at the moment which inspired this particular outburst, but I'm not sure where that would put me spoiler-wise.  I bet some of you know what I'm talking about, though.

I've read on various posts that it's random posting day or something?  Most of my posts are pretty random, but in the interests of saying something, I would like to say: have I mentioned how much I love long, angsty fanfiction?  I mean, most of us must or there wouldn't be so much of it, but I really love it.  Like, I'll minimize the story and do other things right at the point where the characters have a terrible potentially relationship ending misunderstanding, just to draw the pain out.

I guess I can get S3 as it airs for $15 dollars in standard definition rather than HD, which kind of boggles the mind.  I mean, $10 extra for better definition?  Really?  I was looking it up to check that SD vs. HD was what I thought it was, and people were saying how SD would look how my TV looked before HD, which sent me down a lovely little nostalgia trail.

You guys remember the days before digital TV?  You know what annoys me about TV now?  (And yeah, I don't have cable so my experience may not be that of the general population)  There's either good reception, or no reception.  There was a time when if I wanted to watch my show come hell or high water, I could do that.  Even if it was completely snow and I could only just hear the voices, I could watch that station if I wanted to.  I miss that.

I'm still not sure if I'm gonna pay that $15 dollars (I could do, I got a gift card a while back that will cover it) but it's cool to have worked down from $25.

There would be an easy way for me to flail about all the amusement I got out of this.  But I don't, so I'm linking it here.  Check it out.

Or rather, a just-after-Christmas M.A.S.H. episode, where they meet a couple of a British soldiers and learn that there is a Boxing Day tradition wherein the gentry switch places with their servants for the day.  Is this true?  I've never heard of it before, and if it is true I feel like I should have heard of it before.  (I'm aware that I could just google/wikipedia this, and I will if I have to, but I just want to say that if it is true, it's been horribly un-exploited in fic if I've never read about it.  There should be two or three Jeeves and Wooster stories at least).

I figure if I post it, I'll- you know- do it, so...

1) I'm going to be reccing for Justified on [livejournal.com profile] crack_van next month, which is exciting.  I'm good as far as stories to rec, though I'm going to have to pick between a couple similar stories and that'll be hard.  When Justified fics are good, they're really good.  I'm also the first person reccing for it, so I'll have to do the fandom overview, which is a little scary- but *deep breath* I got this.

2) I want to get caught up on the shows I was trying to actually follow while they were airing.  Sleepy Hollow I'm totally caught up with, and still adoring, but I appear to have lost Agents of Shield.  Anybody know how it's going?

3) I'm going to make a masterlist of my fanworks. It should be up soon.  There won't be a whole lot on it, but I'd rather make a teeny masterlist now and add to it as I go than decide in a year or so that I need one and have no idea where to even start.

Anyway, like I said- now I have to do it.
