I haven't seen the latest episode yet either, so I don't know what happens - don't happen.
I'm very much in the same boat as you re wanting not to be right - I too love being taken by surprise by this show and it has proven again and again that they have a few twits up their sleeves!
But, yes, everything we have seen and learned so far leads me to think blackmail and very dark secrets too, but I also keep thinking there most be something more than that too. At least I think for Red, he needs a more personal reason to be after the fulcrum than saving his own hide from the people who wants him dead...
