So, I had a stupid little argument with myself over whether or not to do the "I'm really proud of the snippet.  You liked it?  Well, tough luck sucker because that's all I have written of that fic" version of this meme, but I drew the line.

These are all from stories that are at least 80% done and may will surface not too long from now.

I wanted to post something, but I've been having a tough time figuring out what.  I watched my shows, but I'm still making my peace with Agents of SHIELD and all I really have to say is that I think that if I keep watching it will be to catch Forever after it's over.  Forever, don't ever change.  At this point, the only thing I don't love about that show is the misleading promos ABC does for each episode.  They're all "OMG tension" and "what secrets will be revealed" and envariably the episode is nothing like the promos.  I wonder if the people who make them realize that everyone that is still watching Forever isn't in it for high drama, they're in it for a gentle, slightly goofy show with an adorable leading man.  And now there's Burn Gorman!  Speaking of whom-
can he really do that voice?  Wow.  He was hidden skills, people.  Hidden skills.


And I've been watching OUAT promos and not even recognizing that show anymore.  Are they really, truly, and without irony bringing in Cruella Deville?  Lord.

And I've seen some movies lately and not really liked them.  While I still have some old favorites, I guess movies don't really do it for me anymore.  I watch too much TV.  On the one hand, movies are too long.  My brain has trained itself to expect a situation to be resolved in 45 minutes to an hour.  On the other, they're too short.  I like to have episodes and episodes to get to know characters, and a couple of hours is no longer sufficient to become attached.

I do have one comment from Begin Again, which I saw half of on an airplane a couple of weeks ago and the rest of the other night.  There's this bit where Mark Ruffalo wants to listen to the music on Keira Knightley's phone and she's all making excuses and "oh, lots of guilty pleasure songs on there" and the songs that she actually plays?  "As Time Goes By" and the like?  Whoever selected those had absolutely no notion of constitutes a guilty pleasure song.  
  

Would any of my OUAT friends like to volunteer to let me bounce of ideas off them for a Rumbelle fic?  I have some good character study/introspection stuff already finished, but the prompt I'm writing to more or less requires it to be a futurefic, and I'm having trouble envisioning it.  Anyone want to chat about it with me?
 

Character you like with several others:

Oh, but there are lots.  My beloved Daniel, of course, and also Wesley Wyndam-Pryce and Remus Lupin.  I can see those three with most of the major people they have interactions with in their various canons.  I have favorites (like Illyria/Wes or Lupin/Snape) but I like all kinds of ships for them, het and slash.  I also like Claire Bennet with lots of different people (mainly Gretchen or Sylar, but I also have an unfortunate weakness for all the sides of the Claire/Nathan/Peter triangle.  Blame the fandom, people).

Emma Swan, too, although I wouldn't quite call that shipping, I'm just undecided.  Graham, August, Neal, Hook (and of course Regina too)... I don't really have a preference.

Your OTP:

I don't really have an OTP.  The pairing I've read the most fic for is undoubtedly Charles/Erik (X-Men) because the supply is just so amazing.  The pairing I've written the most fic for Artie/Jim (The Wild Wild West).  The pairing that gives me the most concentrated feels in the actual canon is Kit/Will (The Promethean Age).  But I love Belle/Rumplestiltskin (Once Upon a Time) and H.G./Myka (Warehouse 13) too, and then I start to get carried away, because I like a lot of pairings.

How I feel about this character: From the very first time I saw him, he caught my eye and it wasn't very long before he was the main reason I stuck with OUAT- and then Belle came along and I was hooked.
My het ship: Rumbelle, all the way!
My fem/slash ship: This isn't really a show for slash- it's part of the reason I occasionally pondered giving it up for greener pastures- but I guess Rumple/Jefferson would work.  I liked their dynamic a lot (the one time we saw it).  That would be Mad Gold, right?  This fandom has the best ship names.
Any OTP? I really love Rumbelle, you guys.
My non-romantic ship for this character: This one could be Jefferson?  Their first scene together in "The Doctor" is definitely my favorite non-Rumbelle scene.  But his relationship with his son is of course also really fascinating.  Also, though I definitely don't ship them, I tend to squee whenever Rumple and Emma are on screen together.
Any unpopular opinions? Meh.  I was unenthused by Neal turning out to be Baelfire.  I don't actively dislike it, or him, I just don't love how tightly knit the writers decided all the characters' families needed to be.  Also, twists that basically everyone called beforehand aren't really twists.
My favorite plot-line for this character: Belle; the whole Beauty and the Beast thing generally, really.
Something I wish would happen/had happened to this character: Happily ever after?  Nice things period?  I'm a simple girl.
A crossover ship or interaction I would love to see for this character: Picking up from my Nealfire ennui, I'd like to mention that from the moment we found out that Baelfire was sent to thie real world, I've loved the idea of crossovers with some other series where one of the characters from that series is Baelfire.  Imagine the interaction between Rumple and the others with whatever cast you might like when he finally manages to go looking for his son.  I'll probably finally finish one of my fics to that effect someday, brought to you by the canon divergence tag.
A head canon fact: I have very little in the way of head canon for Rumple, mainly because of certain confusing timelines that make it really hard to tell what is happening when.  That said, I guess it's a head canon that I firmly believe Belle and Jefferson met in the Dark Castle before the curse.  How else would he know that she was the best way to sic Rumple on Regina?

Favorite kiss

I'm giving two answers for this one.

The first is Belle and Rumpelstiltskin's kiss in "Skin Deep" from Once Upon a Time.  I only like het some of the time, and even then it's rarely a canon relationship, and when it is a canon relationship it's usually either over, or doomed.  There are a few exceptions, and though it has its ups and downs I'm reasonably optimistic that Rumbelle with remain one of them.  Now, Beauty and the Beast has actually never been one of my favorite fairy tales, but I love OUAT's spin on it.  The first kiss between these two is just such a wonderful subversion of so many fairy tale tropes that I just adore it.  I love this couple, and this moment- with all its unexpected complications- is a great example of why.

The second is the Jack/real Jack kiss in "Captain Jack Harkness" from Torchwood.  OUAT is sharing this spot because that kiss is representative for me of a couple I generally love- but as far as sheer jaw dropping beautiful awesomeness, this one wins hands down.  As I believe I've mentioned, I have a love/hate relationship with Torchwood, but you know what I never fall out with?  The scenes between these two, and this moment.  I always gape at the outright passion of it, and cry a little at the heartbreaking-ness of it.

Some interesting moments, mostly Hook getting knocked out (incidentally, am I crazy to think he resembles Jonas Armstrong?) but I want to say that the Good Always Wins schtick occasionally got trying.  Snow and Charming won, and I'm happy for them.  I like Snow and Charming a lot.  BUT, for the most part, it's patently not true.  I mean, you can't get much more good than Belle, and where is Belle?  Belle is locked up in a tower marking off the days on the wall.  I don't call that winning, and yet she so obviously still loves Rumple and even if he isn't "good" and hasn't earned his happy ending she deserves something a little less sucky than being locked up in a tower.

On the good side, Aurora and Mulan were adorable.  If that's it for them, I guess it's as a good a send off as I could've hoped for.  I'm going off to find me some fic on the subject.  And Belle made Gold a lunch.  In a little basket.  And the bit where Ruby could half understand Pongo was really cool.  And the lunch in the little basket.  And Hook getting knocked out.
 

I'm just doing my five main fannish obsessions of the moment, but I'll probably do other series as I go along, if only to get my tags and ships together.
