Summary: Just a few of the so-many-more-than-five times Merlin told Harry he was late (and one time Harry actually wasn’t).

Notes/Warnings: As I was working on this I kept getting weirdly sure that it had been done before. I’m not sure if that’s true or not, but if it has been I haven’t read the fic, so hopefully I’m bringing something new to the table. Also, I feel like I should mention that though this is from Merlin’s POV it’s really a story about Harry in a lot of respects. If that’s going to bother you, maybe steer clear? Finally, I think this is going to fill my H/C bingo "wild card" square (survivor's guilt). As such, even though nobody dies on screen, the fallout of characters dying (Lee, James, an OC) is pretty central to the story.  Not Brit-picked.
Excerpt: “You’re late, Galahad.”

“Fashionably,” Galahad said as he took a glass of champagne from a passing waiter. Given how aggravating he found almost everything about Galahad, Merlin still didn’t know why Morgana had asked him to do this. Or, rather, he knew exactly why- Morgana probably thought this was the beginning of a beautiful friendship- but that didn’t mean she was right.

Ahh this is lovely! Your voices are spot on, they read so easily like the movie versions.

Also, this: "Writing doesn’t handle having someone die for him very well at all in Harry’s file would be singularly unhelpful." is wonderful and so true, Harry wouldn't. You get right at the heart (ha) of his character very effortlessly, bravo.

Proud Hartwin dumpster dweller. :D No, I've noticed the fandom isn't that big. But tbh fandom trends can be so fickle, it seems kinda arbitrary what becomes huge. Kingsman has amazing character dynamics. (One of those few movies where I started shipping in the cinema, as opposed to "later, on the internet", lol).

That's very true about fandom trends. It seemed to have a heyday and then drop off again, and here I am going, "But I'm not finished with this..." I started shipping Hartwin right off too. I love so many things about their dynamic, and the rest of the cast is also great!

I know that feeling! I have terrible fandom timing, I always come into a fandom after it's died.

Yeah, seriously, the cast is amazing. And I just cannot with the amount of innuendo. The 'Pretty Woman' comment, and that, what is it, "one does not use fitting room two when one is popping one's cherry"... actually that's not even innuendo anymore, that's just straight up sex talk. (Idek what kind of direction Taron Egerton was given but clearly he took it to mean "gaze adoringly at Colin Firth at all times".)

I hear you, I'm late to fandoms all the time.

So true, it's incredibly suggestive. I rewatched the movie recently and found that yes, those moments are every bit as amazing as I remembered them being.

It's fine if you ramble at me, lol! It's cool to get to talk about it. I'm super excited about the sequel no matter how much I try not to get my expectations too high. I want Harry back so much.

God me too. But I didn't even know that him coming back for it was an option, I was just trying to reconcile myself to a sequel without Harry. And then I checked out Taron Egerton's twitter for the lulz and he's teasing it like no tomorrow. So I'm juuust about starting to feel safe about getting my hopes up now. *crosses everything*

There's definitely been some cool stuff about it on twitter, so I'm very hopeful. From what I've heard Colin Firth's been filming for a while so it seems likely he's really back!

Yeah, god, if it turns out to be flashbacks after all I will be so pissed off. But I figure they know that this is how the fans feel, and that getting our hopes up for nothing would just result in disappointment. Here's hoping! (Colin Firth certainly seemed to be having the time of his life in the first one. :)

I worry about that too, but since most of what I've heard makes it seem like it'll be more than flashbacks I'm cautiously optimistic.

Oh yeah, I remember how happy he was about being in an action movie. I'm glad he gets to be again :)
