So, as I already said in a post I liked Star Trek Beyond quite a bit, but I recently saw a trailer for it (tacked on to youtube video) that bugged me because it seemed like it was for a very different movie.
Idris Elba was in the trailer a lot.  It made it seem like he had about the level of presence in the film that Cumberbatch had in the last one, which anyone who has seen the film will know was very much not the case.  My biggest complaint about the movie in general was how much it underused Idris Elba, and watching a trailer that made it seem like he had a much bigger part really reinforced that for me.    


Has anyone seen (or is anyone planning to see) Suicide Squad?  I don't feel strongly about it one way or the other and I know there was a lot of excitement for it, but the stuff I've heard lately didn't sound so good and I'm curious what people think.

I didn't know he was in alien makeup until I got to the film since I was mostly unspoiled lol. He was wasted, yes. I wanted hot Kirk/villain antagonism scenes like we got with Cumberbatch.

I think if you're still interested in seeing Suicide Squad in the theater, you should go.

Like you, I've been rather neutral about the movie since seeing the trailers. Although I, personally, probably won't go see it in theaters since it's not on the extreme "to see" list (maybe rent it once it comes out just to see what it's like), but I have to say, the whole over-the-top drama surrounding the critic reviews is absolutely ridiculous from both sides. Everyone needs to just chill.

I have to be pretty sold on a movie to see it in theaters. I was sort of hoping I would be because (tumblr acting like Jared Leto is the antichrist or something aside) the cast seems pretty cool, but so far I'm feeling meh about the whole thing.

Yes true. Based on just the trailers it's hard to tell what they've really done with her character.
