I went to see xXx: The Return of Xander Cage and let me tell you I thought it was fantastic.

In general the xXx movies have always brought out a slightly juvenile side of me that is 100% there for a cross between James Bond and the X-Games and wow did this movie not disappoint on that score, but there was also more to it than that.  All the action was great, all the characters were great, Donnie Yen was especially great (and Xiang's dynamic with Xander Cage really did it for me you guys) and there were so many women!

Like, I'm not going to claim it was some kind of feminist utopia, it's xXx, but there were three major female characters who were all well developed, each kickass in a different way, and really supportive of each other- and there were multiple minor female characters none of whom died for man-pain.  I can't really think of another action movie that can say the same, honestly.

Anyway, I think it's a shame that it's not getting much love.  It's not a perfect movie but it was really entertaining!  I spent the whole movie with a stupid grin on my face, and I shipped so many people.

I never expected I would want to see this movie but now, because of Donnie Yen, maybe I will.

The movie I'm really waiting for is "Logan". The previous Wolverine movies were okay-ish, but this one looks very interesting.

I think it's important to go in expecting mindless and slightly silly action and be pleasantly surprised by everything else- but Donnie Yen is really worth seeing!

I have mixed feelings about Logan, myself. Days of Future Past really turned me off X-Men and Wolverine both and I haven't watched one of the movies since, but Logan does actually look pretty good, so probably I will go see it.

I saw this - as a favour *g* - and I didn't think as highly of it as you did, BUT:

- incredibly diverse cast, which was great to see
- totally agree on the love for Donnie Yen - I didn't know who he was before Rogue One (well, I knew the Ip Man movies existed, and he did look familiar, but I couldn't have named him) and now I'm a fan

Yeah, I couldn't have named him before Rogue One either- I remember hearing someone say that he was by far the most famous actor in Rogue One, and I thought, "...Is he?" Because I didn't really know who he was. I really like him, though.
