Music Monday
Feb. 12th, 2024 09:23 amI decided to try doing a music Monday, which I'm interpreting as making a post about music on a Monday.
Lately I've been thinking about live acoustic recordings of songs that, quite frankly, blow the studio versions out of the water. Such as:
Born to Run by Bruce Springsteen
Anyone else have live or alternate versions of songs that they like better than the originals?
ETA: not sure why embedding isn't quite working for me, I feel like it used to. Any ideas? Fixed!

For songs I like alternate versions better:
The live version of "Meet Me At Our Spot" by Willow Smith and The Anxiety is 1000% better than the studio version. Someone needs to talk to her producers, because they BURY her voice.
This live version of "Walk on Boy" covered by Jim Byrnes is WAY better than the one on his album.

Date: 2024-02-24 09:09 pm (UTC)I've got a fair share of songs where I've ended up enjoying a live and/or alternate version of it more than the original, though I think that's mostly because I ended up hearing those versions first, before the original. Hmmm, the only one I can for sure remember I liked better even though I heard it after the original is a live performance of Rammstein's Du Riechst So Gut (years and years ago, when the band wasn't in the news for terrible things) - the crowd shout-singing the chorus really brings out a level of menace fitting for the lyrics that the original doesn't quite pull off.
A song where I'm pretty "meh" about the original but love a cover/remix version of it, is this remix of Emilie Autumn's "Swallow" (link goes to an AMV, 'cause I'm pretty sure the AMV is what made me love the song 😆)
