Finally saw the new Blacklist episode

I liked it, and I'm excited that we're finally going to get into the Tom storyline- but I've got to say I was hoping the judge plotline would go a little differently.



I mean, Cooper and the other guy aren't going to get in any trouble for beating a confession out of a guy, are they?  If the guy who was executed had turned out to be innocent, Cooper would- at the very least- feel horrible about what he did.  Instead, he's basically vindicated, and that sort of leaves a bad taste in my mouth.  That aside, the guest stars were all very good, and that version of Jolene at the end cracked me up.

Stories that touch upon the death penalty make me uncomfortable at the best of time as do unnecessary violence/torture. So much of this episode did not sit well with me. I agree there should have been consequences to both Cooper and the judge. Lizzy’s line that there’s been enough judging today was not a good one!

I’m glad we now know a little more about Tom and I look forward to learning more and I hope that side of the plot moves a little faster from now on.

So true. At the very least, I would have hoped for Lizzie to let him know that she respects him less now than she did before- I certainly do- but when she said that, it seemed like she'd stopped being upset by it.

I'm excited that we're moving forward with the Tom storyline too.

Hmmm, that was my problem - but it is actually pretty realistic, so I'm not bothered overly much about it (though it makes me dislike Cooper that much more...there is something going on there).

You're right- it is fairly realistic, it just doesn't sit well with me. I've definitely lost a lot of respect for Cooper over it, and I'm going to keep hoping that something comes of it... but I don't tune in for him, I tune in for Red, so I'm dealing.

The irony being, you are SUPPOSED to disrespect RED, but actually the opposite is true, lol!!

Yeah, never much liked Cooper to begin with (too bureau-rat) but the dislike is deep and intense at this juncture.

I love how Lizzie makes me wanna headdesk every now and again though. She's soooo HUMAN, you know?

Oh, Lizzie. You're so right about her. I love her and grind my teeth over her at the same time.

But Red... yeah, he does bad things, but he has his own standards and he lives by them. I respect that about him even if I don't always respect the things he does. Cooper, though, isn't supposed to live by his own rules, he's supposed to live by ours, and when he doesn't, it just makes me shake my head. Because, as you said, it is pretty realistic- it's just a reality that doesn't make me very happy.
