How I feel about this character: I really love her. She's such an interesting, complex, kick-ass lady.
My het ship: Helen/John
My fem/slash ship: Charlotte/Helen
Any OTP? I really love Helen/John, though I don't know if it's quite an OTP, given how much I also love James/John, but they aren't necessarily mutually exclusive.
My non-romantic ship for this character: I loved her dynamic with Will, but I 100% didn't want them to ever get together, so there's that. Her relationship with her daughter was also fascinating and really well written.
Any unpopular opinions? Not that I know of, but I was never really active in the fandom.
My favorite plot-line for this character: I love the flashbacks she's had to the Victorian era and the background for The Five. I found all those characters fascinating, and in particular the part Helen played. The Five were sort of a League of Extraordinary Gentlemen type deal, and you would think that with Helen not being anyone famous she would seem like a weak link, but she absolutely didn't. She was awesome all on her own.
Something I wish would happen/had happened to this character: More Sanctuary? I didn't love the final season of the show as much as the earlier ones, but even so I would have liked more.
A crossover ship or interaction I would love to see for this character: I said how much I love the idea of Helen and H.G. Wells from Warehouse 13 interacting for H.G., and it's still true. I also think Helen and Julia Ogden from The Murdoch Mysteries would really have gotten on. (What? I loves me some fiesty Victorian ladies).
A head canon fact: It's been a while since I read Sanctuary fanfiction, but when I did most of them were set in the Victorian era period, and a lot of them were James/John fics wherein James finally figures out that John is the Ripper. Unlike in all those fics, It's always been a very firm head-canon for me that Helen is the one who figured it out first, not James, and then she confronted John about it, as we see in her earlier flashbacks. I've always though it was strongly implied by the series that, as smart as James was, he was really blind when it came to John, but I don't think Helen was. She may have loved him, but she would have figured it out.

Date: 2014-04-25 05:08 am (UTC)Helen/John/James or any combination thereof is actually canon. So, indeed they are not mutually exclusive. Helen/John is my OTP too, but you can add James to any of the two (or both of them at the same time), and it all works out!
Helen & Will is a ship that I DESPISE, lol. I just don't *get* people who ship them. Like, I can get a Will crush/hero-worshipping Helen in season 1, but after that? Nope. I really like how their relationship develops, but it's definitely NOT a ship.
More Sanctuary would have been awesome.
I've never watched Warehouse 13, but I've heard so much about Helena G Wells, that's she's sort of a head!canon of mine for Sanctuary haha. A lot of people in the Sanctuary fandom used the female!HG in fanfics and whatnot.
And ya, I always thought Helen was the first one to put all the pieces together, and that the boys did not too long after her. That's why she was alone to confront him that night in the alley.

So true. I would never have blamed Will for having a crush on her, but I couldn't get my head around people who believe she would go for him.
Helena from Warehouse 13 is very awesome. I think it's such a popular crossover because the two shows have a similar feel- especially with regards to how historical figures are characterized. H.G. would fit in so well with The Five it's hard not to imagine it.

The fact that Helen was alone when she confronted John is a big part of why that's my head-canon (besides the fact that she's so damn smart, of course). I think the boys had to have found out after he was gone.
