Ship that became canon even though you didn't expect it to:

Hmm.  As someone who only occasionally likes canon ships and mostly favors slash and never-gonna-happen het pairings, I don't often think in terms of, "I love these two, I hope they get together."  I don't normally expect my ships to get together, and usually I'm right.  So I guess I'm fudging a little on this one, but I'm going with Belle/Rumplestiltskin.  I feel like this question suggests two people who aren't introduced as love interests originally, but get together eventually, and Rumbelle definitely isn't that.  But Rumpelstiltskin is what I liked best about Once Upon a Time from the beginning, and I didn't expect him to get a love interest.  I certainly didn't expect him to be the Beast in a Beauty and the Beast storyline, and I didn't expect Belle to be so wonderful, so there it is.

I don't think ANYONE was prepared for the awesomeness of Rumbelle, not the cast or crew or fans! It says a lot for the actors and the Skin Deep writing I think that it has endured, and is the reason why many OUaT viewers ARE OUaT viewers!

It's definitely a big part of why a lot of OUAT viewers are OUAT viewers, and it is so awesome- I just hate the fact that this show sometimes makes it seem like it was sort of... an accident, I guess? Like they didn't intend for it to be that good, or for us to be that invested?
