Today's a busy day so I'm not going to push this one.  I've never been active enough in a fandom to really see that darker side.  I've never seen a flamewar in my life, so though I'm sure couples I've shipped have had them, I don't know about it and I'm actually pretty happy about that.

You're very lucky to have not witnessed any shipping wars. I have been part of fandoms where flamewars were a constant thing. It's always a mess, immature, and exhausting, and really very stupid because at the end of the day, nobody wins.

I definitely feel lucky. I know what they are, and it makes me really sad, because fandom is supposed to be fun and- as you say- it's not like any one ever wins.
