I think I'm gonna revamp my tags a little bit.  Mainly, I'm going to go back and add pairing tags, but I might also change to fandom: once upon a time type tags rather than just once upon a time type tags, but that's mainly just because I think it makes things easier to find, and I have enough tags now to warrant that kind of change.

But I want to ask what you all find most useful when you're looking through the tags on someone's journal.

With pairing tags, do you prefer them to be just on fanworks about/with that pairing, or on any post where the pairing is discussed (i.e. shipping meme entries or reaction posts)?  What about character tags?  Do you think they're useful, or do they just clutter the place up?  Personally, I can see pros and cons to all of the above, and I'd like to know what you most like to see when you're using tags.

I look for fandom tags first and foremost, but I do consider pairings tags very useful.

Ah. As an example in due South, I would find it useful if there were tags to differentiate Fraser/RayV from Fraser/RayK. Is that the kind of thing you meant?

Yeah. But it's more question of if someone gets to my journal, and they see a Fraser/RayK tag, and they click on it, do they want it to take them only to fic/mixes about that pairing, or also to episode reaction posts/shipping meme answers that mention that pairing? I've seen both ways on other journals, and I'm deciding which is mostly useful.

Och...I need to do this myself, but my tags are so overwhelming, yeesh. But this is a marvelous idea.

I always use fandom, pairings, etc when I'm talking about them. I usually only use fandomfic:ficficfic when I'm posting fiction, because I have warnings,fandom, characters, disclaimers on the posts themselves (and I'm not keen on redundancy (sp?).
