Hello everyone!

So, I'm trying this fandom meme my new friend [livejournal.com profile] megan_moonlight is doing.  It's similar to ones I've done before, but there are a couple of different questions, so I can excuse it.

Give me a fandom and I'll tell you:

Favorite male character:
Favorite female character:
Prettiest character:
Funniest character:
Most badass character:
Favorite season:
Favorite episode:
Favorite romantic ship:
Romantic ship you don't like:
Favorite friendship:
Character who would be your BFF:

As a reminder, my main fandoms are Angel, The Blacklist, Cabin Pressure, Castle, Discworld, Doctor Who, Due South, Firefly, The Good Wife, Harry Potter, Heroes, The Hobbit/Lord of the Rings, Justified, Longmire, Marvel Cinematic Universe (Avengers movies & Agents of SHIELD), Murdoch Mysteries, Once Upon a Time, Orphan Black, Person of Interest, Pirates of the Caribbean, Profit, Robin Hood, Sanctuary, Sherlock, Sleepy Hollow, Star Trek (all the series and movies), Stargate Atlantis, Stargate SG-1, Torchwood, Warehouse 13, Welcome to Night Vale, X-Men

I feel like I’m forgetting a few (when am I not?), so if you want to ask me about a fandom I haven’t mentioned, go for it. I’ll tell you if I’m not familiar.

due South.

And if I can pick more than one, also Heroes and Person of Interest :)

Due South

Favorite male character: Ray Kowalski
Favorite female character: Elaine
Prettiest character: Fraser
Funniest character: Frannie or Bob Fraser; they’re both funny, but in different ways
Most badass character: Welsh; he’s maybe not conventionally badass, but he takes no shit and I love that about him.
Favorite season: S3 or 4- they sort of run together in my head
Favorite episode: I love “I Coulda Been a Defendant” but also “Odds”
Favorite romantic ship: Fraser/Ray K
Romantic ship you don't like: I don’t actively dislike any ships for this fandom, but Fraser/Thatcher never struck me as something that would work out; in the end, I was really happy the show never pushed it.
Favorite friendship: Fraser and Ray V
Character who would be your BFF: I don’t really see any of them as “BFF” material, but I think Turnbull and I would have a good time. He would just be so hilarious to be around.

Heroes

Favorite male character: Nathan
Favorite female character: Claire (yes, I’m a special snowflake in some circles); I also really adored Emma
Prettiest character: Mohinder
Funniest character: Hiro
Most badass character: The Haitian
Favorite season: S1 (since that’s got to be the most common answer ever, I will add that I thought S4 was great too)
Favorite episode: “How Do You Stop an Exploding Man?”
Favorite romantic ship: Claire/Gretchen. I’m going to be depressed that that didn’t get to be explored further for a long time.
Romantic ship you don't like: Maya/Mohinder. I didn’t like Maya in general, but their ‘thing’ made it all even worse.
Favorite friendship: Hiro and Ando, though I also loved the friendship Peter and Sylar started to develop after “The Wall.” I’m sad that will never get to be explored further too.
Character who would be your BFF: Monica

Elaine <33333333 I adore her so much!
I agree about Fraser being the prettiest and Welsh being badass! I'm glad that most pairings weren't really pushed, but I also think Fraser/Thatcher wouldn't really work out.

I'm not a fan of Claire, but I know what you mean about the snowflake feeling. I still remember some people's comments when I said I like Simone.

So agreed about Mohinder and Hiro! Hiro and Ando's friendship was pretty much amazing. And I wish there were more fics for Claire/Gretchen.

My favourite pairing is Matt/Mohinder :)

I liked Simone too- yeah, it's a strange feeling when you love a character that everyone seems to hate.

I love Matt/Mohinder too. Lots of great fics.

I don't quite understand how you can list Fraser and RayV as your favorite friendship, but prefer Seasons 3-4 (the Kowalski seasons) and two episodes from those seasons, to the RayV seasons. Seasons 3-4 didn't have Fraser's and RayV's friendship as the focus, so your answer doesn't make much sense.

Elaine's my favorite female too. :-) And I think she's the prettiest, followed closely by Frannie and Meg Thatcher. Fraser's looks don't do anything for me, and neither does Kowalski's looks, although I admit they're attractive. But I think RayV is very attractive too, and seems more approachable and real than either Fraser or Kowalski.

From: [identity profile] potentiality-26.livejournal.com
Well, I'm not a huge fan of the seasonal question, frankly. With a show with a seasonal plotline- or something like Heroes that has one season that absolutely everybody agrees was far superior to the others, it's easy to answer. With Due South, it's a lot harder. I just thought about the episodes that I remembered enjoying most, and more of them were in the later seasons than the earlier ones.

Forgot to add: Did you know that the original scripted version of "COTW" had Fraser and Meg
Thatcher in Canada together at the end? Turnbull was there, too, and it was implied that Meg had accepted a posting where Fraser was to have a romantic relationship with him.
The Rays were both in Chicago and were friendly with each other.

Since I'm a RayV fan, and not a F/K fan, I wish this ending had been filmed instead - because then Fraser wouldn't pick Kowalski over RayV. But I'm not sure about Fraser and Thatcher working as a romantic couple.

From: [identity profile] potentiality-26.livejournal.com
That's interesting, I didn't know that. I wonder why they decided to go such a different route.

I see where you're coming from. See, if you do ship F/K, then it doesn't seem quite so much like Fraser is choosing Ray K over Ray V, because they have a fundamentally different relationship and therefore the Rays aren't really comparable. Ray V is his friend, and Ray K is something else. If you don't ship it, then yeah- I see how it's an unsatisfactory ending, because it seems like Fraser is saying that Ray K is somehow his favorite friend. I guess it's up to interpretation that way, but I can see why you would prefer the original version.

I do like the idea of the two Rays being friends, though.

From: [identity profile] gingergal2.livejournal.com
I still don't know. If I had a best friend who was like a sibling to me, which is how I see Fraser's relationship with RayV, and that best friend had just returned to town after being away from all of his or her loved ones, and was also recovering from a gunshot wound, then I like to think that I would be a good enough friend that I would spend time with my best friend while he or she recovers - instead of going off on a vacation with a potential lover.

But I don't think that most F/K shippers, not even those who love RayV, think that Fraser's being a bad friend to RayV by going off with Kowalski and, in a sense, choosing Kowalski over RayV. I think most of us have to choose between a friend and a lover or spouse at some time in our lives, but a lover or spouse shouldn't always be your first priority. It depends on the circumstances. And Fraser had already ignored his friendship with RayV to be with a lover - Victoria - so I think RayV would be terribly upset if Fraser went off with Kowalski, and chose another lover over him, while RayV was recovering and probably hoping to spend time with Fraser. Fraser was again saying the friendship wasn't important because he had a lover. At least he runs after Ray when Ray comes to his apartment the second time in "Victoria's Secret," and apologizes for missing his party and says he didn't want to lose his friendship.

I guess you could imagine that Fraser and Kowalski didn't go off right away, just as RayV didn't go to Florida right away, so Fraser and RayV spent time together after Muldoon was captured. And maybe the Rays started becoming friends, provided that Kowalski got over being jealous of any other man who showed Stella attention.

Personally, I like to think they didn't go off right away, but the show didn't give us a lot to go on in that respect.

Person of Interest

Favorite male character: Finch
Favorite female character: Carter
Prettiest character: Shaw (Carter is lovely too, but Sarah Shahi is my lady forever)
Funniest character: Leon; he cracks me up every time I see him.
Most badass character: Elias; I love how quietly powerful he is.
Favorite season: S1
Favorite episode: It’s hard to pick a favorite, but “Baby Blue” was definitely one of those ‘you couldn’t be more like a fanfiction if you tried, show’ episodes that are impossible not to love.
Favorite romantic ship: Finch/Reese
Romantic ship you don't like: Reese/Carter; I was never really going to want them to get together, but I might have still enjoyed it if it wasn’t ultimately so half-assed (sorry, still mad about this). The way it was done sort of read like, ‘Obviously it isn’t enough for him to love Carter platonically, so we’d better strong arm them together even though we haven’t built a foundation for it at all.’
Favorite friendship: Reese and Carter. See above; I love them both- as friends.
Character who would be your BFF: Grace. She’s so awesome.

I answered for PoI as well, and now that I look at your answers... we agree about majority of things! It's so cool! :D

I also listed "Baby Blue" as my favourite episode. It was so wonderful! I could pick so many episodes as my favourite...
Finch/Reese <3

For favourite friendship I picked Finch, Reese, Carter and Fusco, because I couldn't decide *lol*

The Blacklist

Favorite male character: Reddington
Favorite female character: Meera (excuse me while I cry silently over here); I love Mr. Kaplan too, she’s definitely my favorite minor character
Prettiest character: Lizzie, I guess
Funniest character: This is probably Red too
Most badass character: Um… also Red? I just really love him. I don’t even know.
Favorite season: Only S1 so far, so… S1
Favorite episode: “The Good Samaritan Killer” probably. I love Red’s opening with “The Man Comes Around” playing in the background, and I actually found the particular episodic plot very compelling. I loved “Anslo Garrick” a lot too, especially the scenes with Red and Ressler in that little cell.
Favorite romantic ship: I don’t really ship with The Blacklist at this point. I love Lizzie and Tom’s relationship, but I wouldn’t call it shipping because I was just as happy to watch it fall apart as I was when everything was good.
Romantic ship you don't like: I’ve heard some speculation that Lizzie and Ressler might get together. This would not please me. At all.
Favorite friendship: Red and Dembe, probably. They have a really interesting dynamic that I’d love to see in more detail. But seriously, I love Red with all his people: Luli, Mr. Kaplan, his various contacts. It’s always so fond- even when you’re pretty sure they actually hate him- and he kisses literally everyone. I love it.
Character who would be your BFF: Aram? This is more that I actually really like him and I haven’t gotten a chance to mention him yet, but I think he seems like a cool guy.

Ah, Reddington is my favourite too! And I don't want Lizzie/Ressler either. I don't see why a romance is needed.

X-Men

Favorite male character: Erik Lehnsherr
Favorite female character: Rogue or Kitty Pride. I can’t decide.
Prettiest character: Emma Frost
Funniest character: Sean Cassidy
Most badass character: Erik
Favorite season: I’ll take this to mean which is my favorite X-Men movie- First Class. I like the Xavier/Magneto focus and the lack of Wolverine. I don’t hate Wolverine, but I am tired of every single X-Men movie being about him.
Favorite episode: I’ll take this to mean scene or set of scenes- the Kitty Pride and co. segments of Days of Future Past. She and her friends (Bishop, Warpath, Blink, Iceman, etc.) were so awesome and I loved their time travel element. If DOFP had just been them saving the world, it would have been my favorite X-men movie.
Favorite romantic ship: Charles/Erik
Romantic ship you don't like: I really dislike that they made up Logan/Jean Grey out of nowhere and then proceeded to milk it long after any interest it might have ever possessed.
Favorite friendship: I liked the look at a possible Kitty and Bobby Drake friendship we got in DOFP. Again, I wish that element had gotten more attention.
Character who would be your BFF: Hank McCoy, probably.

I don't think I'm deep enough into this fandom to have favourites yet. It's the different relationships and dynamics, as well as the social commentary that hooked me into these films.

Harry Potter and Once Upon A Time

From: [identity profile] potentiality-26.livejournal.com
Harry Potter

Favorite male character: Remus Lupin
Favorite female character: Hermione Granger
Prettiest character: Cho Chang
Funniest character: Fred and George (as far as I’m concerned, they count as one, which is admittedly depressing in light of things)
Most badass character: McGonagall
Favorite season: I’ll take this mean my favorite book- “The Prisoner of Azkaban”
Favorite episode: If this one is my favorite scene, I really love Lupin’s last scene in the third book- when Harry meets with him as he’s leaving. I’m not sure if it’s really my favorite or not, though.
Favorite romantic ship: I really like Lupin/Snape, but I ship Lupin with Sirius too
Romantic ship you don't like: It’s not a question of like/dislike, it’s just that I was never very interested in the romantic shenanigans of the student characters, so Ron/Hermione, Harry/Ginny and so on sort of bored me. Accordingly, I didn’t dig the ‘literally everyone marries the essential equivalent of their high school sweetheart the end’ epilogue.
Favorite friendship: The Marauders
Character who would be your BFF: I’ve always thought Luna would be really fun to talk to.

Once Upon a Time

Favorite male character: Rumplestiltskin or Jefferson (I love them both)
Favorite female character: Belle
Prettiest character: This show has no shortage of pretty. Snow is the one I can never get over, though, so I’m going with her.
Funniest character: I tend to find Emma’s humor funny, but she isn’t exactly a “funny” character
Most badass character: Granny. I love her so much.
Favorite season: S1; the writers seemed to have a better grip on all the plots they were spinning back then.
Favorite episode: “Skin Deep”
Favorite romantic ship: Belle/Rumplestiltskin, I also love Aurora/Mulan and- though hardly anyone ships it, I always thought Archie/Marco had potential (I long for slash, okay?).
Romantic ship you don't like: I didn’t like the Mulan/Phillip angle they had when they first introduced her character. They seemed to forget about it later on, though.
Favorite friendship: In my head canon, Belle and Jefferson were BFFs when he would visit the Dark Castle to do favors for Rumple. Nothing will change my mind.
Character who would be your BFF: Belle, for sure.

Stargate Atlantis

Favorite male character: Carson
Favorite female character: Teyla
Prettiest character: I actually think Rodney’s sister Jeannie is really beautiful. Also, I love her.
Funniest character: Sheppard
Most badass character: Ronan
Favorite season: S3- it had a lot of great episodes
Favorite episode: “Sunday,” I think. It hurt me a lot, but it was beautifully and intelligently executed pain, and the way I think letting go of a major character should be handled.
Favorite romantic ship: I always liked Carson/Rodney and John/Teyla. I also always thought Elizabeth/Caldwell had potential.
Romantic ship you don't like: I’ve got nothing against it technically, but as the above may indicate Sheppard/McKay was never my thing. No one shoot me.
Favorite friendship: Sheppard and Todd the Wraith had the coolest dynamic. I wouldn’t call them exactly friends, but it was so interesting to see where they went next, and it always seemed to me that, for a given value of the term, they did care for each other.
Character who would be your BFF: Zelenka. He’s great and I think we could be buddies.

I already did OUAT up here (http://potentiality-26.livejournal.com/58566.html?thread=204998#t204998). :)

Doctor Who

Favorite male character: The Doctor, obviously- also Rory Williams
Favorite female character: Sarah Jane, I think- but it’s hard to pick. I love so many companions.
Prettiest character: Amy Pond. But seriously, there is not shortage of pretty. River. Clara. Tish. Jack. Eleven.
Funniest character: Donna
Most badass character: Canton Delaware, maybe. He’s so awesome (and he just wants to get married) but there is no shortage of badass characters on DW. What I mainly love about it is that everyone- no matter who they are- is badass at one point or another on this show.
Favorite season: S5, I think.
Favorite episode: It’s hard for me to pick. I really loved “A Christmas Carol” though.
Favorite romantic ship: Amy/Rory and Vastra/Jenny; I also love the Doctor with River or the Master (I can’t pick)
Romantic ship you don't like: I prefer to pair the Doctor with Timelord or semi-Timelord characters (and sometimes Jack Harkness), otherwise there’s a power imbalance that can be sort of icky, so I don’t really like Companion-of-your-choice/The Doctor.
Favorite friendship: Ten and Donna
Character who would be your BFF: Martha, maybe? I think she’d be lovely to be around.

Angel

Favorite male character: Wesley
Favorite female character: Fred (and Illyria)
Prettiest character: Gwen
Funniest character: Cordelia, I think- but Lorne is funny too. Also, I have a very old memory of watching Angel with my mother kind of weaving in and out of the room, not really knowing what was going on, and she would refer to him as 'The gay interior decorator guy.' Whenever I rewatch, I think of that and laugh so hard.
Most badass character: Illyria
Favorite season: S5; I loved the Wolfram and Hart arc, and also having Spike as a regular.
Favorite episode: "The Girl in Question"
Favorite romantic ship: Fred/Wesley or Illyria/Wesley, but I was willing to read Wesley/pretty much anyone fic-wise.
Romantic ship you don't like: Watching BTVS, I liked Buffy with Angel and with Spike, but the way Angel/Buffy and Spike/Buffy were played on Angel made both a lot less appealing.
Favorite friendship: Gunn and Wesley
Character who would be your BFF: I really can't think. I'm sure Fred and I could be friends, though.

Star Trek Deep Space Nine

Favorite male character: Probably Garak, but my favorite regular is Odo
Favorite female character: Jadzia, but I love Kira too. Chosing is hard :(
Prettiest character: Kira
Funniest character: Quark
Most badass character: I think Sisko, in a lot of ways- I don't think any other captain faced the sheer number of horrible decisions that he did, and he hardly ever flinched. Kira is pretty badass too, though.
Favorite season: I'm really not sure. I definitely favor the early seasons, though- I liked it when the show was focused more on the Cardassian/Bajoran issues and less on the Dominion War.
Favorite episode: "The Wire"
Favorite romantic ship: Garak/Bashir and Kira/Odo. I liked Worf and Jadzia a lot too, but those two were my "ships."
Romantic ship you don't like: Bashir/Ezri; Not only did they replace my beloved Jadzia with someone I didn't like half as much, but the whole thing read as very contrived, very 'no, look how hetero everyone is!'
Favorite friendship: I loved it when Garak and Odo started to be friends, for obvious reasons. I liked Kira and Jadzia's friendship too.
Character who would be your BFF: Keiko O'Brian

Interesting. I was mildly Buffy/Angel when watching BTVS but when ATS came along I fell hard for Angel/Cordy. I liked Spuffy too, but you're right, something about Spike's awesomeness in ATS just made Spuffy seem ... I dunno, less fitting?

Kira! Odo! oh GARAK! I agree on Ezri, I could never warm to her because she was just so wrong for Bashir, and it felt forced. Plus, I hate that so much of the last season was wasted on a brand new character when we already had such a spectacular cast.

I was mildly Buffy/Angel when watching BTVS but when ATS came along I fell hard for Angel/Cordy.

Pretty much my feeling. On Angel, we were focused on the plotlines and romances of Angel, and when Buffy was brought into it, it was really only to add conflict, which to me did a disservice both to Buffy as a character and to the Angel ships.

Plus, I hate that so much of the last season was wasted on a brand new character when we already had such a spectacular cast.

Very true. I get that if they felt they needed a major character to die to prove that the situation was serious it pretty much had to be Jadzia because there was already a vehicle to bring in a new character to take her place, but I just really didn't want a new character.

My memory is fuzzy but I'm pretty sure we lost Jadzia because the actress tried to hold out to get paid even remotely what they were paying the male leads, but they just shrugged and wrote her out :( so Ezri was not even really long term planned, she was just such a distraction away from the characters we cared about :/

The Wild Wild West

Favorite male character: Artie
Favorite female character: Well, Antoinette is pretty much the only woman in more than one episode, and I do like her. My favorite girl of the week was Haruko Ishuda, the Japanese secret service agent from "The Night of the Deadly Blossom"
Prettiest character: Jim
Funniest character: Dr. Loveless. He always makes me laugh.
Most badass character: Also Jim, I think; Artie is badass too, though, just in a different way.
Favorite season: The seasons do run together a bit, but S3 had a lot of my favorite episodes, and also the entrance of Jim's super hot riding outfit.
Favorite episode: "The Night of the Vipers"
Favorite romantic ship: Jim/Artie, naturally :)
Romantic ship you don't like: I've always been unenthused by all the Jim/girl of the week stuff, but it a) always happened and b) never meant anything, so I learned to roll with it. One thing I did like about S4 was that all of that mostly stopped. Jim had maybe three or four kisses in that season, compared to the at least one every episode of before.
Favorite friendship: Friendship isn't quite the word, but I found Jim's dynamic with President Grant really interesting.
Character who would be your BFF: Probably Artie.
