Why do you suppose it is that when it's 3 AM and I can't sleep, the fic I'm writing in my head sounds like the best thing since sliced bread, but then in the daytime, when I'm trying to write it down, some of it's servicable but I can't figure out how it hangs together anymore and the rest of it is just nonsense?

It's frustrating, because I know that if I'd written it when I was thinking about it, I could have gotten that shit done- but, you know, sleep is important and stuff, and also there's something sad about getting up making oneself coffee before there's even the possiblity of daylight, so I didn't.

I don't completely regret the choice, it just bears mentioning.

Oh, I know what you mean.
I seem to have the best ideas for fics when I'm not able to write most of it down and later... it's tricky to remember everything I planned to write so that it would make sense.

I know a lot of people have that experience, when you think of something and go to write it down later and it just isn't the same.

I bet. Myself, I usually remember what I wanted to write (unless it was the middle of the night and I wasn't really all there)- but it was just better in my head.

I have been in this exact situation before. so frustrating. even worse I find, for me, I'll think of the best fic while I'm laying in bed trying to sleep and then can't remember half of it the next day but i know it was awesome.
