I already caught all my shows this week! I have... somewhat mixed feelings- general good impressions jumbled up with some meh.
So, that was interesting, but I'm not quite in the swing of it yet. I liked the Fitz scenes (he was by no stretch my favorite in S1, but I like this new twist on his character) and the new mechanic guy. I think it will be better if they get back to a more episodic storyline, and it would be better still if they'd shave off Adrian Pasdar's stupid mustache. He's a gorgeous man; why hide it? Also, I tend to get bored and somewhat anxious with shows where the characters just don't trust each other. SHIELD was generally pretty good about that. Suddenly it isn't. Bah. Anyway, there's still potential and I hope things pick up more.
The first two episodes were solid- I thought the second one was especially good. I like Lizzie's new haircut, although I would prefer if she was less nasty to Red all the time. I like the Mossad agent, although it seems like a bit of a stretch for the FBI to employ her in this case, and I miss Meera so very much. I love Dembe and Mr. Kaplan as always. Just when I was getting to not completely dislike Ressler he got annoying again. Interesting that Red says he didn't kill Berlin's daughter. If I were him I'd find a way to prove it posthaste.
Again, I'm hoping things even out pretty soon. I always love Crane and Abbie's interactions, and the way they use humor to break up the bleakness is always well handled- but I want all my heroes together. I'm not especially worried for Katrina- I guess they're going for a Maid Marion in Nottingham thing?- but Jenny. And Irvingggggg. John Noble is such a great bad guy, though. Love him.
My Tuesday watching was especially busy. I only caught some of Selfie- essentially the same ep. I already saw, so no worries there- but after Agents of SHIELD I did watch Forever, mainly because the couch was comfy and why get up when I could just... stay. I didn't dislike it, and I do so love Ioan Gruffudd, but I'm very, very tired of the same 'immortal dude' plotline by writers who never take any risks. I need to not do this to myself. He's not gonna be bi, I need to not hope, but goddamnit it's nearly 2015!

I like the Fitz scenes. I'm glad there wasn't some miracle cure or something. I'm very curious about how Jemma will or won't re-incorporate into the show. It's obvious that she's trying to be a double-agent but we'll see how that goes.
I'm not sure if they will get back to an episodic nature. Traditional television thinking says that having long-term stories turns off viewers more than an encapsulated 42 minute plot but nearly a century of soap operas say differently...and again, unless there's a reboot like the New 52, comics don't tend to have truly stand-alone stories either, everything relates to something else.
I like the mustache because it's so over the top ridiculous like his character. Then again, I'm not sure I've ever been attracted to him since...Myserious Ways?
I usually hate shows where no one trusts each other and/or anyone can die any time but I'm not having that problem here. I'm not sure what the difference is except that while they claim not to trust each other, their actions say otherwise? Lance was extremely open with several people this episode.
I'm excited about Mockingbird showing up but I don't think that's until the fifth episode.
I didn't even ship Ioan with the other guy until you just said something, lol. I still like that it has multiple women of color on the show and that Henry has such a good relationship with Abraham in stark contrast to Jack Harkness and Alice even before the 456 stuff. I loved that scene about Abraham worrying about Henry when Abraham died.

Date: 2014-10-02 10:39 pm (UTC)I think long term stories can be a good choice or bad one, just depending on how it's handled. I think it can be tricky, though, when they go from episodic to long term, if that makes sense.
Hmm. You like what you like, I suppose. Personally, I didn't think Adrian Pasdar was too attractive in Mysterious Ways. Loved Declan as a character, but I tend to find the actor most attractive when he's all neat and polished and evil. The mustache detracts from that, but it does have an over-the-top-ness that works.
I agree with everything about Forever. Multiple women of color are always a + and I love that Henry doesn't have the same isolation you got with Jack Harkness, and that he and Abraham have such a sweet relationship.
It's super easy to get me to see a slash pairing. All the friend from Tuesday's ep had to do was put an arm around Henry's shoulder and there I was. I don't really care if there's a major slash pairing, and it'll be fine with me if there's an endgame het relationship, I'd just kind of like him to have had a past male love interest in there with all the past female love interests that are undoubtedly on the way.
