Icon Selection Broken?

When I try to select an icon for replies on coments, it just reverts back to my default icon.  Annoying.

According to a_phoenixdragon there's a workaround, but as usual with LJ's bugs I'm mainly hoping that it's just going to go away after a while.

It's been going on for several days and has been reported to LJ : http://www.livejournal.com/support/see_request.bml?id=1837084

I've found that if -- when the icon reverts to the default -- I do "edit comment" then the icon I actually chose instead of the default does appear (which is why this post is edited -- to get the icon I was trying to select).

I've been doing the edit thing for a couple of days...but this temp fix-it really does work. Here's to hoping they can take care of the glitch. Probably something minor in the coding.

Yeah, I'll try the edit work around when it matters to me, it's just... a weird little glitch. Here's hoping it gets fixed.

I think it will. Tis probably taking a while because it make be such a tiny glitch it's hard to track. But it will likely be fixed soon. They're getting better about such things.

I hit 'More Options' before placing my icon and then hit 'Post Comment' tis an extra step, but not as annoying as having to edit...

Yep. This is when we figure out how much we really like- or really don't like- our default icon.

The edited comments are a bit annoying. I don't blame people or anything, it just makes it look I have more messages than I actually do, and it's... a little sad.

But I just tried it, and selecting an icon from the "More Options" page works too.

There's still so much I don't know about LJ, and "more options page" is one of them. Am I looking right at it and missing it, or is it something I have to hunt down?

If you look at the comments on this post, you'll see my comment and then click 'reply.' You'll find the 'more options' button next to the 'post comment' button below the text. The screen it takes you to will look pretty much the same, but when you select your icon from there it won't just reset to your default.

I haven't been able to find the 'more options' button when writing from the inbox, though. That could be why you haven't seen it before.
