This is tough. To make it a little less tough I decided to only allow myself one song per singer, and not to do any songs from musicals at all. I'm still missing some songs I love- but hey, top tens are always hard.

1. Roland the Headless Thompson Gunner- Warren Zevon
2. Romeo and Juliet- Dire Straits
3. Southern Cross- Crosby, Stills and Nash
4. Cold Missouri Waters- James Keelaghan (though I think I like the Cry Cry Cry cover the best)
5. The Lower Road- Thea Gilmore
6. Come Back Home- Chris Pureka
7. Hallelujah- Leonard Cohen (there are so many good covers of this song but I actually lover his version, I also really like Allison Crowe's version, and Rufus Wainwright's)
8. The House of the Rising Sun- The Animals (I love The Gaslight Anthem's version too)
9. Florida- Patty Griffin
10. American Pie- Don McLean

There are plenty of soft melody songs on this list. I like your taste on music! Plus, you include some barely known singers. =)

:) Thanks! Yeah, soft melody songs are definitely my thing. When I first started the list I had a few more classic rock songs on it, but I kept kicking them off in favor of ballads.
