In fanfiction, I just love tropes and cliches in general. I love seeing different writers' takes on the some concept, and I love all the fascinating things they can do.
In regular fiction, I'm a little more bored with tropes, but since I answered the previous one for regular fiction, I'm going to try to do it for this question to, so...
As a companion/comparison to yesterday's answer, I really like a quality "everyman" character who gets really good development and becomes a really cool character. Daniel Jackson is a great example. So is Rory Williams. I like seeing a more or less regular person go through a lot and become someone extraordinary.

Same. It's something we can relate to, because we often think of ourselves as nothing special, but when there's a character who starts off as just a regular person but becomes something more, showing through their actions and choices that they can make a difference, that they do become something extraordinary, it demonstrates that even we can become that as well. You don't have to be born with special abilities or have special destinies to become extraordinary or be the hero of your own story. It makes us identify with those characters, relate to what they go through.
