Okay, then

Well, LJ's slightly creepy new TOS was the reminder I needed to back up on DW again.
I'm glad that I did it, but the comments didn't seem to import this time. Is anyone else having that problem?

Date: 2017-04-04 03:37 pm (UTC)Most people guess that if they've changed the user agreement to go after anyone it's Russian anti-government bloggers (which is creepy enough in my book), but I don't know what Russian law says about specific fics/fanfic in general/etc. I always post my fic on AO3 and just link back to it here, but even so- the user agreement specifically says that they have the right to delete your blog without warning if they find you aren't in compliance with the rest of the agreement- i.e. Russian law- and since I don't know specifically what that means, I find it pretty questionable.

Date: 2017-05-16 04:08 pm (UTC)That's pretty uncomfortable IMO. There's also the fact that on LJ's main post about how this was still an international blogging platform and that not too much would change- and on most of the posts the LJ staff have made since then- a lot of users who talk about LGBT issues or being LGBT have asked if they have anything to worry about with the new TOS, and instead of being answered their questions were deleted.
So far I haven't heard anything about wholesale deletions, but it's worth being wary of, I think.
