I've been looking at a few fic writing memes recently. It'll be a few months before I break down and do one, most likely, but looking through some of the questions did get me thinking. One question in particular- asking the writer to say which of their fics was most popular or well liked- interested me. When an author writes in multiple fandoms, some larger than others, it gets difficult to judge popularity, because it so obviously has more to do with the popularity of the fandom than the popularity of the fic.
( Contains me counting kudos and generally waxing philosophical; feel free to give it a miss )
In related news- how often does your muse get inspired based on what you're doing that particular day? It's possible that's where the first coffee shop AU came from- but to stay on topic, I took my dog to the vet, which to my brain equaled: "You want to write a veterinarian AU for your current main fandom." Nice going, brain. I needed that.
