Couple you like, but it overshadowed by another couple in the fandom:

Well, this would be slash ships more than couples, but: I always liked Carson Beckett/Rodney McKay.  A lot.  McKay/Sheppard never did anything for me.  I don't know why, I just never "saw" it.  So yeah, I liked Beckett/McKay, which let me tell you there is hardly any of in the Stargate Atlantis fandom, and didn't go for the main slash pairing at all.

Also I always wanted Sheppard to end up with Teyla.  The one time I thought I could count on Male Lead + Female Lead = Love going my way, no dice.

Ohh, know what you mean!! I know exactly what you mean. I think McKay/Sheppard was because of (believe it or not) the Jack/Daniel dynamic. The formula worked for Jack and Daniel (but that was because of who they were I believe) and everyone just automatically adopted that for McKay and Sheppard.

You're probably right- they certainly do crop up in the same fic sometimes (i.e. McShep with a side order of J/D or whatever) but I totally don't see them the same way. But everybody has their own buttons, right?
