Question

[potentiality_26]

On LJ posts, I sometimes embeded links with a little symbol next to them.  They're just like LJ User links (like potentiality_26), except that instead of the usual LJ symbol it's the AO3 symbol, or one for another website.  Does anyone know how that's achieved?

I'd try to look it up in the FAQ, but as you can see I'm not very good at explaining it and I don't know how I'd even starting looking.

I tried figuring this out at some point, and I think I ended up with the relaization that LJ, sadly, doesn't have this feature yet. It's a code thing I believe, but I could never get them to work on LJ.

I've definitely seen it on people's LJ posts. So is the idea that you can do it with code, but it's not a feature that actually comes in LJ?

As I remember this was the conclution I came to: some platforms have their own feuture for these things, but LJ doesn't. But I do believe it's possible to do it with coding, otherwise I don't see how other people manage to get them to appear, but coding isn't my thing and I couldn't warp my head around it. I don't have the links to the sites I was on reading about this, otherwise I would give them to you. I remember it took me a while to find the right "words" in google to get the search results I was looking for, but I got there in the end.
