[community profile] questionoftheday asks: What song did you have stuck in your head today?

My answer: I have a song from Jesus Christ Superstar (What's the Buzz/Strange Thing Mystifying) in my head just now, specifically the one from the ABC live version.  I bought the soundtrack right after I saw it and I still listen all the time.  I can't believe it's going to be a year old soon.

[community profile] questionoftheday asks: What is something everyone is "supposed" to love or enjoy, but you just don't? (question submitted by [personal profile] author_by_night)

My answer: Well, I've never understood the appeal of reality TV, and while I wouldn't say that "everyone is supposed to" love it, it's certainly a phenomenon that is so big because people are partaking of it, and I've never gotten why.

There are also some very popular movies that seem like they should be my thing but that I actually dislike, among them Guardians of the Galaxy and Moulin Rouge.  Both were movies I wanted to like, and obviously I wish the people who do much joy of them, but... I really didn't.  It's an interesting experience, to watch something knowing you should like it and you just... don't.

[community profile] questionoftheday asks: What part of today’s society and technology do you look at and immediately feel old comparing to related things from when you were younger?

My answer: I've been hurting for my old VHS tapes recently, if that counts. I had so much good stuff that I basically can't access these days. (Yes, I know it would be possible, if I got a hold of a working VHS player, to digitize them- but it's the principle of the thing.)

What makes me feel old more than anything (and I'm hardly old) is things I took for granted growing up literally not working anymore.

[community profile] questionoftheday asks: What are the five best types of gifts that someone could get you based on your personality and interests?

My answer: Books are the main one, of course; I particularly like sci-fi/fantasy, mysteries, and classic literature- and I looove cookbooks.  Beyond that, I'm definitely at the age where I've concluded that socks are in fact wonderful presents. I'm generally good with getting clothes.  Gift cards are always appreciated though maybe not great for me, since I'm an impulse buyer of the worst kind.  I also enjoy food/candy gift packages.  But mostly I like books.

Also, a belated Merry Christmas to those who celebrate it, and a general happy holidays!

[community profile] questionoftheday asks: How prepared would you say you are for a disaster? Say that the zombie apocalypse happened, what is your likelihood of surviving?

My answer:  I live in a rural area, which means that I'd probably hear about whatever was happening before it got to me, so I'd make it through the first wave, but... I don't know about after that. I'm fussy and wimpy, so I wouldn't do well growing my own food or building fortifications or fighting the zombies or anything like that. I'd have to find people to take care of me. If they did I could be a teacher or a bard if we got a medieval post-apocalypse instead of a western-type one.

(These questions are so fun!)

[community profile] questionoftheday asks: What is your internet history? What websites were you a part of that might not be around anymore, and do you have any fond memories of them?

My answer: I had an FF.net account back in the stone age, got to livejournal long after its heyday was done, and now I'm figuring out where to head next!  The lost site for which I will always pine is the slash cotillion, dedicated to mostly M/M fics in a period setting.  I didn't post there, but i did read a lot and it disappeared over night.  Almost none of it was caught by the wayback machine, and I will forever be sad about all that lost fic.
