Title: Midnight Clarity
Fandom: Sherlock Holmes (Howard)
Pairing/Characters: Sherlock Holmes/John Watson
Summary: After John Norton's second arrest, things aren't yet back to normal.
Rating: PG-13
Length: Short (1,108 words)
Disclaimer: None of these characters belong to me.
Notes/Warnings: It's Christmas, so I wrote a "The Case of the Christmas Pudding" tag. It may not even be the last because this episode is A Lot. Title is a bit of a play on "It Came Upon a Midnight Clear."
Excerpt:
Watson didn’t sound as if he was going to stop talking any time soon. I stopped listening around when he told me that sometimes he thought I needed a nurse. I stood by what I had done, but I wouldn’t deny that I was rattled now- yes, by the neat bullet holes in that dummy’s forehead, but perhaps a little more by the fear in his voice. If I had to choose between his safety and his feelings, his safety would always win- but it was a bitter calculation, all the same. Sometimes I really was afraid that I would drive him away- with my tricks, my experiments, my disguises, my violin, my recklessness. Other times, I was afraid that I wouldn’t.

Title: Season of Giving
Fandom: Kingsman
Pairing/Characters: Gazelle/Roxy Morton
Summary: An early Christmas present.
Rating: PG-13
Length: Very Short (547 words)
Disclaimer: None of these characters belong to me.
Notes/Warnings: Not Brit-picked.
Excerpt:
Roxy squirmed into a sitting position and opened the parcel, sliding her fingernail neatly underneath the bit of tape holding it shut. Gazelle, she suspected, would be a tearer in situations like this. It was very much how she was the rest of the time. Roxy had yet to convince her that there was sometimes more of a challenge in keeping things whole.

Title: Through the Years
Fandom: Kingsman
Pairing/Characters: Eggsy Unwin/Harry Hart + Ensemble
Summary: Across three Christmases.
Rating: PG-13
Length: Medium (4,910 words)
Disclaimer: None of these characters belong to me.
Notes/Warnings: I suspect this doesn't completely work with the timeline of the movie, so I guess just think of it as slightly AU?  Not Brit-picked.
Excerpt: Merlin didn’t let Eggsy into Harry’s room very often. Eggsy wasn’t sure if it was actually because he wanted Eggsy to concentrate on the trials- which would probably make Merlin the only person who thought Eggsy was going to last long enough for it to matter- or if he just didn’t want to encourage the stupid school kid crush he clearly knew Eggsy had on Harry.

See, Eggsy knew it was stupid. He didn’t even understand it most of the time, just why he had walked out of that police station, took one look at Harry- twice his age, all perfectly put together and posh- and thought yes please.

Other times, Eggsy remembered seeing Harry plow through Dean’s boys like one of his most secret fantasies made flesh. He remembered hearing Harry’s voice come out of nowhere like the voice of God and save him from Dean. He remembered feeling Harry's heat and inhaling his expensive cologne as Harry settled at his side and said he had potential and he- for the first time in a long time- believed it. Those times, Eggsy thought of course you’ve got a crush on him, bruv.

Title: To Make a Beginning
Fandom: Kingsman
Pairing/Characters: Eggsy Unwin/Harry Hart + Tilde
Summary: Villains are thwarted, a princess rescues Eggsy more than the other way around, and Harry is a bit difficult- so probably a pretty average New Year's Eve, all things considered.
Rating: PG-13
Length: Short (2,414 words)
Disclaimer: None of these characters belong to me.
Notes/Warnings: Happy belated New Year everyone! This fills the bodyguards square for my H/C bingo. The title comes from T.S. Eliot apparently: “For last year’s words belong to last year’s language. And next year’s words await another voice. And to make an end is to make a beginning.” I found that searching New Year's quote compilations (as one does) and liked it. Not Brit-picked.
Excerpt: After he got her and all the other VIPs who had told Valentine that he could go to hell out of that bunker, Eggsy had kept in touch with Tilde. It had been relatively clear from the beginning, given what had already happened- and not happened- between them, that their future relations would never have been of the romantic variety, not even if Harry hadn’t turned out to be alive.

But Harry had turned out to be alive, and Tilde’s advice on that subject had always been to snap Harry up as soon as possible.

Title: The Brightest of Signs
Fandom: Kingsman
Pairing/Characters: Harry Hart + Roxy Morton, Harry/Eggsy, Roxy/Merlin
Summary: Harry talks Roxy through a mission just before Christmas.
Rating: PG-13
Length: Medium (5,083 words)
Disclaimer: None of these characters belong to me.
Notes/Warnings: This fills the motion sickness square for my H/C bingo. The backstory I give Harry in this might not be to all tastes; it popped into my head the very first time I saw the movie and I’ve had a really had time letting it go. The title is from Harbor by Vienna Teng.  Not Brit-picked.
Excerpt: Harry could practically hear the wheels in Lancelot’s head turning as she put what he had just told her together with everything she already knew about him- very little that Eggsy hadn’t told her, most likely, since this was the longest conversation the two of them had yet had. And Eggsy might not have told her very much at all; Harry had noticed that Eggsy could be rather territorial of him, disinclined to share him with anyone- even his closest friend in the organization.

Title: Auld Lang Syne
Fandom: The Blacklist
Pairing/Characters: Elizabeth Keen/Raymond Reddington
Summary: Not one of Liz’s better ideas.
Rating: PG-13
Length: Very short (437 words)
Disclaimer: Just borrowing these characters.
Notes/Warnings: I’m not saying that Red is Liz’s father in this story or that I believe he is, but I’m not completely closing the door on it either, so if you need that extra cushion you might want to give this one a miss. Though I doubt many people reading will recognize it, I want to mention that this fic was inspired by a scene in the first episode of a show called The Big Valley. In it, a woman tries to prove that a man who claims to be her half brother isn’t by seducing him, based on the notion that he wouldn't kiss her if he really believed they were related. Anyway, my brain decided that this + The Blacklist would be magic. I wanted to get it off my chest before the series came back.
Excerpt: There was a moment where all Liz could do was ask herself if she was really doing this: playing incest chicken with a master criminal at the beginning of the new year. Did she think he’d hesitate at the last minute? Peck her awkwardly on the cheek against his character, who was meant to be deeply in love with his younger girlfriend? Did she intend to shout ‘aha!’ as soon as they were out of that room and force him to finally give her a straight answer?

potentiality_26: (musketeers)
Title: Brand New Start
Fandom: The Musketeers
Pairing/Characters: Athos/Constance/d'Artagnan, Aramis, Porthos, Ninon
Summary: Modern AU: Constance always has trouble with the holidays. This year may or may not be worse than usual.
Rating: PG-13
Length: Medium (9,021 words)
Disclaimer: These characters don't belong to me.
Notes/Warnings: My Christmas offering. This was originally conceived as kind of an office AU, which was a silly idea for me to have because- as is undoubtedly apparent- I know very little about working in an office. I fiddled with it a bit and as a result the characters work… somewhere, doing… something, and are frighteningly unprofessional about it.  Title from "Drunken Angel" by Thea Gilmore, from her holiday album Strange Communion.
Excerpt: After that, Constance went upstairs and took a shower, as if she could wash away the painful wish that she had just said yes to d’Artagnan’s offer and was currently driving home to see his family with him. She reminded herself of why she’d said no- because she did have work to do, and anyway spending Christmas with the family was a big move for two people who had only been dating for a few months. A voice in her head protested that it was more likely her attachment to her own self-imposed isolation that had made her say no, even when she’d already made the leap and started dating d’Artagnan in the first place. The voice sounded horribly like Athos.

Constance reminded the Athos-voice that he had no business talking about self-imposed isolation, and did what she always did when her life just didn’t seem right.

She went to work.

Title: Having Plans
Fandom: Longmire
Pairing/Characters: Henry Standing Bear/Vic Moretti/Walt Longmire, The Ferg, mentions of Vic/Ed Gorski and Vic/Sean Moretti
Summary: Sequel to Endings and Beginnings
Rating: PG-13
Length: Short (2,855 words)
Disclaimer: These lovely characters are not mine.
Notes/Warnings: So, this is probably not everything everyone was hoping for in a sequel to Ending and Beginnings. What can I say? I was inspired by Henry’s least favorite holiday, and then I needed a few days to get it off the ground. I adore Vic’s family in the book series, but since I’m pretty sure that the whole Gorski business would not have gone down like it did on their watch I have concluded that TV canon Vic’s family is very different, and I don't recall any mentions of them in the series, so I used that as an excuse to make them less than awesome.
Excerpt: “What are you doing for Thanksgiving?” Vic asked.

If the non-sequitur bothered Walt, he didn’t show it. “The same thing I always am, probably. Having a dinner of things which are not turkey, cranberry sauce or sweet potatoes with Henry. Sometimes Cady comes along. Sometimes not.”

“And this year?”

“I think she’s going to visit some friends from law school. As is probably evident, it was never a big family event, even when Martha was still with us.”

Title: Takeout Christmas
Fandom: The Wild Wild West
Pairing/Characters: Artemus Gordon/James West, Haruko Ishuda, Jeremy Pike, Lily Fortune, Miguelito Loveless
Summary: Modern Day AU: Jim and Artie are next door neighbors.
Rating: PG-13
Length: Medium (5,101 words)
Disclaimer: The Wild Wild West belongs to CBS and a lot of people who aren't me.
Notes/Warnings: In case it isn't information you keep in your head, Haruko Ishuda is the Japanese secret service agent from "The Night of the Deadly Blossom."  I love her, okay?
Excerpt: Artie had turned out to be a phenomenal cook, so it had been easy for Jim to say that he was happy to go to Artie’s place for dinner whenever he wasn’t too busy, or otherwise engaged. It had even been fairly easy to pretend that he wouldn’t have said the exact same thing if Artie had turned out to be a terrible cook.
